Please let us introduce her through this short but interesting interview :
Please give us a brief bio, where you are from and how you started in the field of art and illustrative painting? When/How did you first discover your creative talents?
I’m an Illustrator from NJ,USA. I work both traditionally & digitally (oils & photoshop). In my spare time I also enjoy photo retouching/restoration, video editing & making fanart. Although I’ve always been interested in the arts, when I was in highschool, I discovered that I wanted to pursue Illustration! That’s exactly what I did and in 2004 I graduated from college with a BFA in Illustration.
What inspires you to keep going and how do you keep yourself motivated?
I love to look at other people’s artwork. Sometimes I will come across a piece of art filled with amazing colors, line quality, an awesome concept and it really motivates me to keep pushing myself. I figure that if someone can create a masterpiece with “photoshop” or “just a pencil” (for example) then with enough practice I can do the same thing. It really comes down to just believing in yourself that you can do anything you set your mind to. That’s the way I like to look at things now.
Any influences or anyone you look up to when it comes to Art or painting?
I really admire Walt Disney – for everything he achieved in life and even in death. He also has some amazing quotes that I find really inspiring. My artist inspirations also include Daarken, Xia, Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Melanie Delon, Marta Dahlig, Luis Royo and so many more.
How has your style changed over the years?
I’ve always kept my artwork on the “realistic” side and I believe that’s never changed. Earlier I would focus all my artwork on oil painting and recently I discovered the digital painting world and I fell in love. My overall style hasn’t changed, but the medium I use definitely has.
Any words of advice for aspiring painters/artists?
I’m basically going to say what every artist I come across says and that is to draw and practice everyday, even if it’s a quick doodle. I also suggest studying. Study different artist, tutorials, take a class and just keep learning. I force myself to learn something new every day. Get yourself out there. Promote yourself, create a facebook fanpage, twitter, linkedin. Join communities (such as this one), make friends and network!! Most important, just believe in yourself, keep pushing, and DO NOT give up.
We agree with You Kimberly : NEVER give up! Thank you Kimberly for your answers and congratulations for winning this contest!
